Regulation of UK Postal Services
Postcomm – the Postal Services Commission – was the independent regulator for the postal market. It was set up by the Postal Services Act 2000 to make sure licensed postal operators – including Royal Mail – meet the needs of their customers throughout the UK.
In 2010 McLays were licensed by Postcomm to provide postal services in the UK.
On 1 October 2011, Ofcom officially took over regulation of the UK’s postal services from Postcomm. Ofcom is responsible for safeguarding the UK’s Universal Service Obligation on postal services.
